Melitta Brew Guide
Step 1
Using a kettle, bring your water to a boil, and then remove it from heat.
Step 2
Rinse your filter with hot water, and then empty the cup. Pour your grounds into the filter. Give the Melitta a gentle shake to level the coffee bed.
Step 3
Place your Melitta and cup on a scale and zero it out. Begin the blooming process by slowly pouring 50 grams (1/4 cup) of water using circular motions. You should go around the entire coffee bed to soak the grounds. This should take 40 seconds.
Step 4
Begin your second pour by pouring 50 grams of water using circular motions. This time you will focus your pour to the center of the coffee bed. This should take 25 seconds, including time for the water to drain.
Step 5
Begin your third pour by pouring 100 grams (1/2 cup) of water, focusing on the center of the coffee bed. This should take 30 seconds, including time for the water to drain.
Step 6
Begin your fourth pour by pouring 100 grams (1/2 cup) of water, focusing on the center of the coffee bed. This should take 30 seconds, including time for the water to drain.
Step 7
Begin your final pour by pouring 100 grams (1/2 cup) of water, focusing on the center of the coffee bed. This should take 1 minute and 30 seconds, including time for the water to drain completely.
Pro Tip: As you pour, be sure not to get the sides wet to avoid clogging the small hole at the bottom of the filter.
